Welding Classes in Brampton

Posted on November 30, 2015 by Institute of Technical Trades

Based on current national statistics, some 15% of Canada’s work force is gradually heading to retirement. It’s mainly because of Canada’s aging population, but the results are already evident: specific labor shortages in many of the skilled trades. For some industries, this has become a serious challenge. In order to address these trends, and to further meet future needs, the Institute of Technical Trades provides welding classes in Brampton. Here, future welders can find comprehensive training programs, with the aim of filling a growing gap amongst the skilled trades.

I.T.T. has programs to train new welders for new emerging careers, and continuing training for welders who want to upgrade and advance. At I.T.T. the welding classes in Brampton are designed to be comprehensive, with skills training in welding processes, basic blueprint reading, and blueprint theory. I.T.T. training is intended to prepare welders for the myriad of industries where skilled welders are short in supply (yet high in demand). These industries may be in building and construction, pipeline assembly and boat building, even the manufacturing sector.

Once trained, welders from the I.T.T. program are poised to fill the many needs of industry. But the crucial part is to train welders who will be highly skilled. This is exactly what I.T.T. provides - with a curriculum that is standards-based; with the required theory work; and with practical skills development. Welding classes in Brampton incorporate 15 specific welding processes and practices. I.T.T. training is hands-on; instruction is methodical; and the staff is highly qualified with many years of experience. When training is complete, I.T.T. welders are “ready to go”.

Beyond training, licenses are an essential part of the program. Licenses and certification are available at I.T.T. in conjunction with the Canadian Welding Bureau (or the Technical Standards and Safety Authority). At I.T.T., programs range from “entry-level” - to skills upgrading - to advanced training. The training center is acknowledged as a Test Centre for both the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, and the Canadian Welding Bureau. Quite simply, I.T.T. is more than just about training - it’s about committed learning, quality education, and student support.

I.T.T. welding classes in Brampton offer programs that are flexible. Programs are specifically designed so that they meet student need - new students; continuing education; and advanced. But for all training, the objective remains fundamental: to provide up-to-date technology and leading edge skills development. I.T.T. has been in business for some four decades, and has become recognized as one of Canada’s leading welding schools. And it’s all based on meeting student needs, reflecting the needs in the curriculum, and addressing the needs of the business sector.

The Institute of Technical Trades is known throughout the business community as a center for quality and excellence. And students who are enrolled in welding classes in Brampton, will find a range of programs that are rooted in a committed teaching philosophy:

The Certified Testing Centre at The Institute of Technical Trades

In Canada, the Canadian Welding Bureau is the recognized body that certifies structural welders. Certified testing is available from the Institute of Technical Trades, which is recognized as an official Testing Centre. Testing requires advanced booking, and is offered every two weeks.

For welders who are interested in renewing active licenses, they are required to bring the expired license to the testing center. This is required for validation. As a general rule, testing results from I.T.T. are valid for a two-year period (this includes the CWB and the TSSA).

I.T.T. is a Testing Center for the Technical Standards and Safety Authority. The TSSA tests are offered during weekdays (Monday through Friday) with advanced booking required. Test applicants are required to meet all criteria and guidelines in order to qualify for testing.

In Canada, career potential for new and upcoming welders is quite optimistic. In most industry sectors, statistics show that working welders are educated and trained, and are gainfully employed at full time salary positions or equally well paid regular jobs. Overall, most working welders believe they are paid well, and are engaged in stable employment with good prospects for the future. As for the long term, the need for highly skilled welders is growing, and I.T.T. is poised to train those future workers.
