The Institute of Technical Trades has 4 welding training programs.

 

Our welding classes in Toronto provide training to students who wish to become skilled, successful welders or to enhance the skills of an experienced welder or hobbyist.

 

Toronto Welding Training Programs approved under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005 include:


1) Welding Master "Option A" Certificate Program
Excellent training for welders with some experience looking for upgrading - 6.4 weeks

Welding classes include 4 CWB position tests or 1 TSSA license test and consist of the following courses:


• Electric Arc (SMAW) – 160 hours


2) Welding Techniques Certificate Program
Ideal for more advanced skills, production welding and upgrading - 15.2 weeks

Welding classes include 4 CWB position license test or 2 TSSA license tests and consist of the following courses:

 

• Oxy-Acetylene Fuel – 8 hours
• Electric Arc (SMAW) – 184 hours
• MIG – Mild Steel (GMAW) – 10 hours
• TIG – Mild Steel (GTAW) – 10 hours
• Elective course in MIG or TIG – 80 hours
• Basic Blueprint Reading – 40 hours
• General Welding Theory – 40 hours
• Job Search – 8 hours


3) Welder Fitter "Diploma" Program
Designed for long term welding career plans in structural or pipe welding - 22.4 weeks

Welding classes include all position CWB license testing in Electric Arc + 1 CWB license in MIG or 3 TSSA's (1 in each welding process) and consists of following courses:

 

• Oxy-Acetylene – 35 hours
• Electric Arc (SMAW) – 250 hours
• MIG – Mild Steel (GMAW) – 40 hours
• TIG – Mild Steel (GTAW) – 60 hours
• Basic Blueprint Reading – 40 hours
• Blueprint Reading for Welders – 80 hours
• Welding Theory – 30 hours
• Job Search – 25 hours


4) Welding Technology "Diploma" Program
If you have long term welding career plans and want to specialize with advanced training,
then this program will accelerate you into better paying jobs, faster - 32 weeks

Welding classes include 5 TSSA license tests or 3 TSSA license tests + all position CWB license testing in Electric Arc and consists of following courses:

 

• Oxy-Acetylene Fuel – 35 hours
• Electric Arc (SMAW) – 250 hours
• MIG – Mild Steel (GMAW) – 40 hours
• TIG – Mild Steel (GTAW) – 60 hours
• Elective Specialty – 200 hours MIG Aluminum & Flux-Core or TIG Aluminum & Stainless Steel or Electric Arc CWB
• Basic Blueprint Reading – 40 hours
• Blueprint Reading for Welders – 80 hours
• General Welding Theory – 30 hours
• Specialty Welding Theory & L.P.I. System of Inspection – 40 hours
• Job Search – 25 hours
